Letters to Mike - USA - The New Rome?

Well, I have heard some people say that what we may be listening is not the end of the US, but the end of the Republic and the birth of the Empire – just like Rome. Things in Rome, at the end of the republic, where so bad, things in such turmoil, that the people and politicians were willing to hand over everything to anyone who promised to bring prosperity and security.
